Tell us a little bit about yourself! What are your hobbies? Why are you studying artificial intelligence? Anything else we should know?
My name is Simon Wills and I am a grade 12 high school student in Toronto, Ontario. I am a big fan of a lot of sports, including hockey, soccer, basketball, and football. I first discovered AI in a computer science course at my school. The following summer, I took the Inspirit AI course where I developed my passion for AI and was introduced to AI in the healthcare industry.
What was your AI Scholars experience like? Who was your instructor and what was it like working with them? What project did you work on?
In my AI Scholars experience, I worked on applications of AI in healthcare, specifically detecting pneumonia from scans using machine learning. This was my first experience with AI and developing machine learning algorithms, and it got me hooked. My instructor Seb helped me understand the code I was working on and got me interested in AI applications in the healthcare industry.
What AI topic will you be writing about in your blog? Describe your topic in detail!
In my blog, I will be continuing my work about AI applications in healthcare. I will be exploring the different possible applications, the problems being encountered currently, and possible methods of implementation. I want to help everyone understand what the future of the healthcare industry will look like.
Who is your target audience? Why should they be interested in your blog?
My target audience is anyone interested in healthcare or AI. I want to make my blog easy for anyone to understand, while also providing in depth information about the future of healthcare. If you think that you will be interested in AI’s future in the healthcare industry, then my blog will be for you.
What are you hoping to achieve with your blog?
With my blog, I hope to reach out to people who may not have been exposed to AI before and get them interested in it. I want to help educate people about the future of healthcare and AI’s role in that future. I also want to address common misconceptions about AI and help everyone and anyone understand just a little bit more about AI.
